While you might be online looking for that perfect Christmas gift--the feds are online too--looking for crooks who might be trying to sell you something bogus.
While it might seem like a deal to knowingly buy an imitation big name handbag or unlicensed sports jeersey--authorities will tell you we're all victims in the end.
"Consumers should realize by them buying this type of merchandise--it's only fueling and supporting the criminal organizations" said NIna Pruneda with Homeland Security Investigations. She told 550 KTSA News more than 700 web sites which were believed to have been selling bogus goods have been shut down in conjunction with "Cyber Monday."
"We're continuing to look for these individuals and seeing who they are associated with as far as the criminal organization is concerned" Pruneda said.
Federal authorities said they had shut down some 25-hundred such web sites since 2010.
