You won't see the China Grove Police Department patrolling the streets of that community anytime soon--after officials there decided to suspend the department's operations.
"We had two paid officers and one reserve officer--one pf the paid was the Chief" China Grove Mayor Eugene Ripps told 550 KTSA News. He said the action came amid allegations officers were simply not conducting their patrols.
"There were complaints made and their were performance reviews done" Ripps said, adding "When you have an officer who spends his whole day at the police station and does not patrol--you know you've got a problem."
Ripps said the department will be retooled and new officers will be hired. Until then, the community will be covered by the Bexar County Sheriff's Department and Precinct Four Constable's Deputies.
