(San Antonio, TX) Arson investigators are trying to figure out just what sparked a massive early morning fire west of downtown, which destroyed on home and heavily damaged another.
"Our fire fighters arrived and found heavy fire coming from a house, and in fact the flames had already spread to the neighboring house as well," said Public Information Officer Christian Bove with the San Antonio Fire Department.
The flames broke out just after 5:30 am Monday morning inside a home on Buena Vista, near Zarzamora, and quickly spread to the house next door.
Our fire fighters fought the initial fire defensively, just because that home was fully engulfed in flames," said Bove. "Luckily no one was home at the time of the fire so no injuries were reported."
Bove said the people inside the neighboring home were able to make it outside the house before fire fighters arrived.
"the neighboring home, which also caught fire, there were people inside but they were able to get out on their own before we arrived," said Bove.
SAFD is working with the city to demolish what little is left of the initial home in the near future.
