For some, the designation of San Antonio's Eastside as a "Promise Zone" is sen as an opportunity for growth.
"We've gotten a lot of grants for the Eastside, but they're somewhat difficult to obtain and this kind of eliminates some of those roadblocks and makes the dollars available a little easier" said Duane Wilson with the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. But others see nothing more than politics in the move.
"Mayor Castro has promoted Pre-K--which is a big deal for the Administration" said George Rodriguez with the South Texas Alliance for Progress, adding "He has supported on comprehensive immigration reform, and he has gotten out of his way to support the homosexual agenda."
"It's going to be nothing more than smoke and mirrors" Rodriguez added.
