A number of prominent Bexar County Democrats will be on hand--when Judge Nelson Wolff officially kicks off his re-election campaign Saturday.
"Those strong partisan cues can be a major advantage at the local level" said UTSA Political Scientist Walter Wilson. Among the big names expected in attendance are San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, and State Senator and Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor Leticia Van de Putte.
Wilson told 550 KTSA News the gathering will show Wolff's pull with local members of his party. He said it also means there's a lot of work for Democratic Primary challenger Tommy Adkisson to do.
"It suggests there's something of an uphill battle for him" Wilson said, adding "It's going to mean if he wants to be competitive, it's going to take more old-fashioned campaign work and sho leather to get his message out."
