A child caught in the middle of a drug bust has been found safe in a West Side neighborhood.
While undercover Park Police officers were arresting one man Thursday afternoon at Elmendorf Park on West Commerce Street, another drug suspect took his vehicle with a child inside.
"Suspect number 1 advised us that a little girl in his care was in that vehicle that fled the scene," said San Antonio Police Sgt. Javier Salazar.
He told 550 KTSA News that Park Police immediately notified other agencies.
"They immediately released that information to all units in the area-- San Antonio officers and Bexar County, but they also got in touch with our San Antonio Regional Intelligence Center," said Salazar.
A short while later, officers caught up with the suspect and found the little girl on Luckey Run. She was unharmed.
"Understandably, she was terrified when the deputies and other officers approached her, but we gave her something to eat. We gave her some stuffed animals and when I left, she was watching Netflix on one of the officers' cell phones," said Salazar.
Child Protective Services was called.
In addition to drug charges, the two suspects also face a charge of child endangerment.
