Just hours before more than 50,000 sports fans filled the Alamodome to see an exhibition soccer match between Mexico and South Korea, the Major League Soccer Commissioner met with Mayor Julian Castro and San Antonio Scorpions owner Gordon Hartman.
Hartman told 550 KTSA News, the meeting was “very positive and productive.”
MLS Commissioner Dan Garber tweeted “tremendous city” and “impressive club.”
“I think there’s a proven model here that pro soccer has real potential in the Alamo City. Those are some of the things we discussed and I think this is part of a process that will be ongoing,” Hartman said.
He says the large crowd at the dome Wednesday night should help make the case that San Antonio supports soccer.
“It’s a real illustration that San Antonio believes in this game, loves this game and is willing to be a part of it in a big way,” said Hartman.
