Cuellar Urges Building of Keystone XL Pipeline

By Bill O'Neil

Support for the Keystone XL Pipeline appears to be building--with one San Antonio Democratic Congressman calling on the White House to give final approval to the plan.

Congressman Henry Cuellar told 550 KTSA News he's confident the pipeline can be operated safely--and with minimal impact to the environemnt--after reviewing a report issued by the State Department.

"Transportation of oil thorugh sopme sort of truck will probably emit more (CO2) than a pipeline" said Cuellar, adding he'd much rather deal with a friend like Canada than a MIddle Eastern government when it comes to America's energy needs.

"We need to move more with our heads than with our hearts" Cuellar said.

Environmentalists continue to urge President Barack Obama to reject the plan for the pipeline--a nu,ber of them rallied outside the federal building in Austin Monday Night.
