Extreme weather can put a big strain on the electricity grid--and Friday's cold temperatures are no exception. That's why the Electric Reliability Council of Texas is asking everyone to turn down thermostats--and reduce the use of electricity--at least until Noon.
"We'd just appreciate the help that Texas consumers can give us to help maintain reliable electric power to everyone through the rest of this cold weather period" said ERCOT's Robbie Searcy. She told 550 KTSA News some simple steps that everyone can take will go a long way toward making sure the electricity continues to flow.
Among those steps, delaying the use of large appliances such as washers and dryers, as welkl as electric ovens--at least until Noon.
