A conservative state lawmaker doesn't like what he's hearing from the Republican Party's candidates for Lieutenant Governor on the issue of immigration.
State Representative Jason Villalba from Dallas told 550 KTSA News the tone he's hearing from David Dewhurst, Jerry Patterson, Dan Patrick, and Todd Staples is unproductive.
"Now, as a conservative, I am not for amnesty. I'm not for giving up our conservative principles" Villalba said, adding he was disappointed to hear the candidates portray the issue as an "invasion" in a recent debate.
"I think it's important that when we have a conversation about a complex issue like this--that we respect the human dignity of the people that we're talking about" Villalba said.
Villalba has written an open letter to each of the GOP candidates for Lieutenant Governor, calling for a more compassionate, understanding, and knowledgable tone on the issue.
