Unions Blast Pension Task Force

By Don Morgan and Bill O'Neil

They're not happy with what they're hearing--the word from San Antonio Police Officers and Firefighters--as a special task force appointed to come up with recommendations for reducing pensions costs outlines their conclusions for City Council.

"We sat through the whole tthing... we watched a lot of false information be put out by that task force--and every time people tried to correct that false information, it would get pushed aside, and the task force would continue" said San Antonio Police Officers Association Vice-President Dean Fischer.

He told 550 KTSA News he sees this as just another step in what has been a very disturbing pattern.

"What's frustrating is we come to the bargaining table in all honesty, all the cards are on the table. We want to take care of the taxpayers, the departments, our members--and we don't get the same respect in return" Fischer said.
