Is another Battle of the Alamo shaping up--this time pitting the State of Texas against the City of San Antonio?
Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson said it's time for the State to step in--and take control of Alamo Plaza.
"I've asked the Mayor of San Antonio to see what his thoughts are on that--kind of an initial let's start talking idea" Patterson told 550 KTSA News in describing the letter he has written. The Land Commissioner--who is also a Republican Candidate for Lieutenant Governor--insisted the request is not a slight against the City. Rahter, he said it's the best route for making improverments, and restoring the shrine to something that is closer to what was there in 1836.
"I think it would be logical that the State would be more inclined to have the resources to be able to raise the money.... in private, public, and government resources--than the City of San Antonio" Patterson said.
