Van de Putte Weings in on Alamo Proposal

By Bill O'Neil

Why now? The question being asked by State Senator--anmd Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor Leticia Van de Putte--when it comes to a Republican rival's call for the State to take over Alamo Plaza.

"The State has a great amount of leverage with being able to bring down maybe some federal funds--I mean if we could ever stop fighting with Washington, we could work with them" Van de Putte said, seeing at least some positive in more State involvement in Alamo Plaza. However, she said there's no reason for it to be a one-sided discussion.

"I think they should work together...I beleive all viewpoints should be at the table" the Senator said, questioning the timing of Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson's push--ahead of his own Republican Primary for Lieutenant Governor--which pits him against Incumbent David Dewhurst, Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples, and State Senator Dan Patrick.
