A first of it's kind in San Antonio--a new, smaller Walmart opening on the city's Northwest side--about one-fifth the size of the Walmart you've grown used to seeing.
"It's a 41-thousand square foot Walmart Neighborhood Market that will employ approximately 95 people" the retailer's Daniel Morales told 550 KTSA News.
Does such a design mean the retail giant is moving away from supercenters? Dr. Tony Chiochetti at UTSA told 550 KTSA News smaller stores are a sign of the times.
"We've had the kind of normal grocery store model for many, many years--and so now you say how do we kind of re-spin that original grocery store model. People are tying to figure out this smaller footprint model" Chiochetti said.
