Congressman Joaquin Castro is boycotting Buc-ee's because the owners are endorsing State Senator Dan Patrick in the runoff for the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor.
The Democrat from San Antonio tweeted, "Won't gas up there anymore since they support a fear mongering immigrant-basher. Wonder how Buc-ee's patrons feel about their endorsement."
Patrick recently posted a Facebook photo with Buc-ee's mascot and the owners of the convenient store chain.
"I am very proud to have the support of Buc-ee and his owners," Patrick posted.
In a written statement, Congressman Castro stated he's "disappointed that a popular and well-respected retailer would lend its corporate brand to a candidate for statewide office who has built his career around dividing Texans."
Castro's brother, Mayor Julian Castro, and Patrick are working on a date for a debate on immigration.
