Cornyn Pushes More Pressure on Russia

By Bill O'Neil

Go beyond sanctions--the call from the Number Two Republican in the United States Senate--urging a tougher stand with Russia as the crisis in Ukraine continues to unfold.

In fact, Senator John Cornyn said an American natural gas lifeline could end up making a huge difference.

"In terms of alleviating the stranglehold that (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and Russia have on those countries as a result of their dependence on Russian natural gas and other Russian natural resources" Cornyn said.

It's a positive Cornyn said he can see playing out in a number of ways for the U.S.

"Not to mention the impact it would have here at home on jobs and our economy" Cornyn said.
