Time to vote--the word from two San Antonio area Congressmen who have added their names to a petition aimed at forcing the U.S. House to take action on a comprehensive immigration reform proposal.
"All we're asking is the majority--in this case our Republican friends--to just put the immigration bill up for a vote" said Congressman Henry Cuellar, who told 550 KTSA News the lack of action by the Hosue Leadership on the measure is another sign of the partisan divide on Capitol Hill. Fellow Congressman Pete Gallego told us he sees a plus to the proposal--in our own backyard.
"Eagle Ford Shale country is a great example of where the economy is booming--but we need more employees, we need more labor" Gallego said.
That's a message the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association is sending itself.
"Ironically, we don't have sufficient applicants to fill all of the positions we have" said Association President and CEO Scot Joslove. He told 550 KTSA News that's been a challenge for the industry for some time.
"There's not a major hotel in Texas that doesn't have employment ads out that are still waiting and waiting to try to find folks to fill a lot of front of the house positions" Joslove said, adding that manpower is a key component in driving the engine of economic development forward int he future.
