The South San Independent School District will leave the city's Pre K 4 SA program, citing low enrollment numbers. That brings about the question of whether other area school districts might face the same issue.
Officials with the Northside Independent School District told 550 KTSA News they've had great success with the program.
"About 181 slots for Pre K 4 SA for this year--and we've filled them. For the 2014-15 school year, we have 383 slots available--that registration is ongoing" said the District's Pascual Gonzalez, adding South San's decision to leave the program will mean more available slots for other districts.
"If any school district opts out, those slots that were assigned to that school district would be redistributed to the other ones that stay in" Gonzalez said.
In the Northeast Inxdependent School Distrcit, officials also told us they are happy with the results of the program so far.
"At this point, we believe (for the coming school year) we're going to have almost double the numbers we had last year" said the District's Aubrey Chancellor.
