A big raise for the President and CEO of SAWS--but not everyone agrees he deserves it.
The increase comes with a vote of the SAWS Board of Trustees--after considering the proposed raise for Robert Puente.
"They rewarded him with a 15% pay increase, as well as a performance incentive" said Greg Flores with SAWS, who told 550 KTSA News Puente has been able to reduce sewer spills, as well as bring the largest non-Edwards Aquifer water supply to the utility in it's history--all the while making SAWS more efficient.
But critics are asking questions.
"There has been nothing but problems at SAWS since has has taken offer--I don't understand what he's done that's been so great" said George Rodriguez with the South Texas Tea Party Patriots. He told 550 KTSA News Puente's raise is an example of a bigger problem in San Antonio--big raises for top officials--as tax and trate payers continue to see their bills increase.
