In Texas--and around the country--more and more conservatives appear to be lining up behind immigration reform.
"To be very honest with you, we have some people who are just catatonic in their opposition" said Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, throwing his support behind reform efforts, joining Tea Party Express Co-Founder Sal Russo and others. Patterson said there are some Republicans who are simply looking at the issue the wrong way.
"Just biased agaisnt the whole concept--I guess you could calm them nativist. They're not going to get it" Patterson said, adding he sees the so-called "pathway to citizenship" as the biggest obstacle in front of immigration reform.
Texas Immigration Solution Co-Founder Brad Bailey said it's time for Republicans to get in the driver's seat on the issue.
"We're looking at how we solve the problem versus complain about the problem--which I think honestly has happened too much in our party" Bailey said.
