Council Says Yes to Oracle Grant

By Bill O'Neil

Oracle's plans for a new operations center in San Antonio take another big step forward. City Council has signed off on a $1 million economic development grant which will help lure the computer tech giant to the Alamo City.

"This company obviously is one of the premier companies in the world" said Councilman Joe Krier. Others are also very pleased.

"It's further evidence of the way the city is evolving, and becoming the best version of itself by attracting and retaining not only high quality companies but also we're attracting and retaining people with educaiton here" said Councilman Diego Bernal.

City leaders say the move sends a loud and clear message.

"My expectation is this is going to help us recruit even more formidable companies that now know we have the workforce to service their needs" said the City's Economic Development Director Rene Dominguez.

The new facility would be located near the North Star Mall--and will result in the creation of two-hundred new, high-paying jobs.
