Millions of Holiday Travelers Expected

If you're planning on getting out of town for the long Memorial Day Weekend it looks as though you'll have plenty of company.  AAA Texas forecasts soem three-million people in the Lone Star State will be taking a trip.  
"That is an increase over last year of 2.1%" said Doug Shupe with AAA Texas. He told 550 KTSA News a continuing to improve economy is the biggest reason behind the expected increase--with the vast majority of travelers hitting the highways.  

"Eight out of ten people who paln  to travel for the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday plan to do so by car or truck. Automobile travel is still the number one mode of transportatiuon because it's still the most affordable for most families" Shupe said. 

The average trip is forecast to cover between 700 and 800 miles round trip--costing about $550.
