Apartments Heavily Damaged by Fire

By KTSA News Staff

Several families are counting their blessings--as arson investigators look in to a two-alarm fire that tore through a Northwest side apartment complex Wednesday Morning.

It was a rude awakening for "Miranda" and her husband--who live at the Oaks of Northgate on Oakdell Way in the Medical Center area.

"We were all asleep--it was right before five o'clock--and he asked us if we had a fire extinguisher because his balcony was on fire" she told us. That led to a quick escape with her one year old--just before the flames tore through her apartment--leaving it and one other unit in complete ruins.

"I'm not working, I'm pregnant, we have a one-year old. I'm just thinking it's only my husband supporting us right now. All of my baby's stuff, we have to get everything brand new" Miranda said through tears.

Several other units were heavily damaged by smoke. No one was hurt.
