No problem--yet. However, the experts fear the drying trend we're seeing after last month's heavy rain could be an issue byt he Fourth of July.
"Because of the rain, things will start to grow a litle bit--and then because of the wind conditions and the high temperatures, they're going to start drying out" said Bexar County Fire Marshal Craig Roberts. While the drought index dropped in a big way with the Memorial Day Weekend rains, Roberts said it's climbing fast once again--with forecasters seeing little in the way of relief in the weeks ahead.
"Thy're (forecasters) actually considering that we're going to go back in to severe, extreme, or exceptional drought conditions" Roberts said.
To this point, no county ban on fireworks has been put in place--however, officials said they will be watching the situation very closely.
