A San Antonio police officer is expected to be ok--after a late night run-in with a suspected copper thief turns violent.
It happened at around 11 Monday Night on the Westside at Ceralvo and Calaveras--that's where the nine-year veteran noticed a man with copper on a pole--and confronted him--only to get punched several times before the suspect ran off, leading to a brief chase.
"After using his taser (the officer) was able to subdue and apprehend that suspect" said SAPD's Sandy Gutierrez. She told 550 KTSA News both the officer and the suspect were taken to hospitals.
"The officer was transported to the Downtown Baptist Hospital due to the pain in his arm and shoulder area" Gutierrez said. The suspect was checked out at another hospital, he now faces a number of charges.
