Count Bexar County Commissioners in on efforts to preserve the Edwads Aquifer habitat of the Mexican Freee-tailed bat.
That support comes in the form of a resolution--which recieved unanimous backing.
"This is almost entirely recharge zone--right over a very sensitive area" said Commissioenr Kevin Wolff, backing an effort that has been pressed across the area by San Antonio City Councilman Ron Nirenberg, who told commissioners more than water and bats are at stake.
"The pest control economic impact alone accounts for almost a quarter-million dollars annually in cost avoidance for our agricultural community" Nirenberg said. He and other are hoping to see much of the land purchased and preserved through a combination of public and private cash.
