Grammy award winning singer Phil Collins has areed to donate the largest private collection of Alamo artifacts to the State of Texas.
"The Alamo would like it" Collins said when talking about trying to find a home for his collection, adding " I was like a dog with two tails as they say in England. I just could not believe it--the exact place where my collection should be housed--should live--is the place where it came from."
Many of the items have not been at the Alamo since leaving in 1836. Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson said the singer is more than just generous.
"I've been around him a couple of times...just a down to earth, normal, unassuming pleasant guy to have a chat with" Patterson said of Collins.
