Stage 4 Coming to the Aquifer?

By Don Morgan

Temperatures are expected to climb in the coming days--with the possibility of triple-digit heat in the forecast--all as the water level in the Edwards Aquifer continues to fall.

"It's been dropping steady. We had that one big rain event--but it was not enough to counteract the high demand and the high temperatures we're having right now" said Terri Herbold with the Edwards Aquifer Authority. She told 550 KTSA News everyone is being urged to conserve as much as they can right now.

"We're getting to go in to the hottest part of the summer. The irrigators are using a lot of water, and the recreational users are using a lot--so we just have to cut back anywhere we can" Herbold said, pointing to the possibility of Stage 4 restrictions within days.
