Krier Not in Mayoral Line Up

By Bill O'Neil

One Northside City Councilman is not in the running to be San Antonio's interim Mayor.

District Nine's Joe Krier said he pledged to fill out Elisa Chan's term--which he initially took on an interim basis--with a lot of work still to be done.

"The city budget, the police and fire contract is coming up, and we have a lot of needs in District Nine. I thought my time would best be spent serving the voters who elected me, rather than seeking another office" Krier told 550 KTSA News.

Meanwhile, Krier also said he'll be listening closely to his colleagues who are in the running.

"I want to hear what they have to say about things like the basic services in the city's budget--and the vearious needs in our council districts" Krier said.

Council will select one of it's own to fill the vacancy created by Julian Castro's departure--following his confirmation as the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
