Billions of gallons of water will be flowing in to San Antonio from the northeast.

Officials from Schertz, Seguin, and SAWS the arrival of the largest new source of non-Edwards Aquifer water in to San Antonio.

"We're sharing the pipeline, sharing the cost--delivering water to this entire community" said SAWS President and CEO Robert Puente, adding the utility will be able to save ratepayers $88 million by leasing extra capacity in the Schertz-Seguin pipeline, while using their treatment plant.

"The key to this is regional cooperation. It's ten years in the making--it means we don't have to spend as much on a pipeline as we otherwise would" Puente said.
