Two of the main points of the newly proposed budget for the City of San Antonio for the coming fiscal year. The bulk of the spending in the plan would go toward public safety--followed by infrastructure and roads, including some added spending on drainage.
"We are listening to you, and we intend to follow through with our diligence from the Council" said Councilman Ron Nirenberg, speaking to residents across the City.
A number of hearings are schedueld for the coming weeks at which reisdents can weigh on on what they think should be added to or dropped from the proposal.
"One thing that I'm looking forward to in these budget work sessions is looking at our civilian employee compensatrion... really looking at that" said Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran.
Even without a property tax rate hike, some homeowners groups said tax bills are likely to climb, thanks to rising property values.
