Renovations to historic Alamo Stadium are nearly complete, on time, and on budget.
San Antonio Independent School District Interim Athletic Director Frank Arnold said people will be amazed by the changes to the 74-year old "Rock Pile."
"The obvious thing is the new artificial turf--all weather turf. The track. All weather facility. These are the obvious things" Arnold told 550 KTSA News, adding the stadium's place on the National Register of Historic Places created soem challenges.
"They had to stay within the guidelines of the historical society and that was quite a tightrope to walk sometimes" Arnold said.
New restrooms, new locker rooms, and new concessions are among the $35 million in improvements.
