Arson investigators are taking a closer look after an early morning fire leaves a vacant eastside church in ruins.
The call came in just before 4 AM Wednesday, firefighters rushed to the church on Burnet near Hackberry, where the flames quickly spread.
"This structure was entirely intact upon our initial arrival, and due to the high intensity fo the flames and the heat, it eventually ended up collapsing in on itself" said Assistant San Antonio Fire Chief MIke Walsh.
Walsh said the situation was a dangerous one.
"No injuries to report on the fire side or the civilian side. Nobody had to evacuate their homes, no damage that I know of to surrounding properties" Walsh said.
