Cuellar Keeps Pushing Obama

By Bill O'Neil

The crisis may have eased--but that isn't stopping a San Antonio Congressman from demanding answers from the White House on the flow of undocumented children in to Texas through Mexico.

Congressman Henry Cuellar told 550 KTSA News he's written a letter to President Barack Obama, asking for a meeting on the situation.

"What's helping us right now is the numbers (of children crossing the border) have gone down--but what happens if they start going up again? Are we going to get caught up in another partisan fight" Cuellar said. The Congressman believes now is the time to come up with a common sense solution to the issue.

"(Senator) John Cornyn and I have come up with a suggestion--a proposal. If you have something better give it to us, because he or his people never gave us anything in writing as to what a psoposal should be" Cuellar said, adding he's especially frustrated the children, border communities, and the Department of Homeland Security have all found themselves caught in the middle of a partisan Washington fight.
