Could it really happen? An all Texas showdown inthe fight for the Republican Presidential Nomination.
Some see just that with Governor Rick Perry and Senator Ted Cruz both set to speak at the Labor Day Weekend Americans for Prosperity National Convention in Dallas. Rice University Political Science Department Chair Mark Jones told 550 KTSA News he doesn't see either as a front runner for the GOP Nomination--but he would give a slight edge to Senator Cruz in a head to head battle--at least right now.
"Ted Cruz has been able to position himself as one fo the most vocal opponents of President Obama on the national stage" Jones said, adding Rick Perry's last White House campaign continues to hang over him.
"The difficulty is you never get a second chance to make a first impression--and Rick Perry did not make a particularly good impression in 2011 and 2012" Jones said.
