Patrick Raises Cost of College Questions

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick wants to know more about how much college costs in Texas.

Patrick–along with State Senator Kel Seliger–have sent letters to each public university President asking for info on tuition and the cost of attendance at each school since 2002. They’ve also asked each for an overview on plans to reduce student debt, and improve graduation rates.

The Lieutenant Governor says a number of state schools have moved to increase tuition rates in recent weeks–despite substantial higher education funding increases approved by the Legislature last year.

Patrick also says a number of schools have implemented what he describes as “excessive” bonus programs for highly paid administrators.
