Patrick Stands By Resignation Call

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick stands by his calls for the resignation of the Fort Worth ISD Superintendent.

This is all related to the superintendent’s bathroom policy for transgendered students.

“I believe this policy is ill-advised, it’s wrong-headed, it violates the Texas Education Code specifically in one area dealing with parent information,” Patrick told reporters in Fort Worth.

More than that, he said, the policy does nothing to improve a student’s chances of graduating.

“The job of the superintendent is not to be a social engineer,” the Lieutenant Governor said. “The job of the superintendent is to prepare his students for a great education.”

But State Representative Diego Bernal said all this noise is just a distraction.

“We have better things to do with our time than to use our political seats as theaters,” he said.
