The Texas Attorney General stops sale of cosmetic contact lenses in San Antonio.

AG Ken Paxton’s office said 21 convenience and dollar stores in the Alamo City violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Texas Optometry Act when they sold contact lenses without requiring a prescription.

The office said the lenses posed health risks to consumers.

As part of the settlement, the store owners agrees to stop selling the lenses and will pay civil penalties and attorney fees.
