Police Chase Ends With Crash

What may have begun on the Southeast side as a carjacking leads to an hour-long police chase winding it’s way through much of San Antonio.

We’re told it all began when an officer spotted a man robbing another near Roosevelt and Presa. Police lost sight of him for a time–than spotted him again near Brooks City Base. That’s where he carjacked another person in an attempt to get away.

“During that carjacking, an officer fired a shot at the suspect–striking him… apparently” SAPD Chief William McManus said.

From there, the man took the black SUV–leading officers across parts of I-37, I-35, Loop 410, I-10, and Loop 1604–before exiting the highway near Northwest Military Drive, near Camp Bullis.

“The driver… at that point on a dirt road–struck a police vehicle or two. He was then apprehended” McManus said.

He has been taken to the hospital to be treated for his gunshot wound. McManus said he will be facing a number of charges.
