Police Chase Leads to NE Side Standoff

Two teens are in police custody following a police chase, a crash and a standoff.

Kirby police started chasing the suspects just before 2 this morning when they spotted them in a vehicle stolen in a carjacking Thursday night on Midcrown.

The chased ended in a crash in the city’s East Side and the teens ran to a home on Sunrise Creek.

Officer Douglas Green says police ordered everyone out of the home. One of the teens was taken into custody, but the other suspect barricaded himself inside for several hours.

There was some concern for an elderly bedridden woman inside and the family was allowed to enter the home shortly after 6 this morning . The woman was found unharmed.

“SAPD went in and did locate an individual hiding behind a bathroom door,” said Green.

The second teen was taken into custody and officers found someone else at the residence who apparently was unaware of what was going on.

“There was another individual who was in the garage asleep. He pretty much slept through the whole situation,” Green told KTSA News.
