Police Kill Wanted Man

Two San Antonio police officers are on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation into a deadly shooting in the Southwest Side. One of them is a sergeant.

A man wanted on several felony warrants got into a struggle with police officers as they tried to arrest him Thursday night outside the Economy Inn on SW Loop 410 near Marbach Road.

“At one point, we did have an officer use a taser on him, but it had no effect,” said officer Douglas Greene.

As the struggle continued, the man reportedly grabbed an officer’s gun.

“The suspect managed to rip the officer’s gun and holster off his belt,” said Greene.

That’s when officers opened fire.

“An SAPD superviser fired multiple rounds, striking the suspect,” Greene told KTSA News.

The man was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The sergeant and another officer are on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
