Pope Francis Due on Border

Thousands of Americans will be in the crowd in Juarez for Pope Francis’ Mass in the Mexican border city Wednesday Afternoon.

“He came to the poorest of the poor places in Mexico, and there’s a reason for that–that’s no accident” said one woman who flew in from Austin to see the Pontiff, adding “His mission is to send a message of love and acceptance for all people.”

The mass will conclude Francis’ visit to Mexico, he’s also expected to make a stop at a prison in Juarez, and make an appearance along the Mexican side of the Texas Border.

Those who have crossed the Border to see the mass include a number of younger Americans.

“It really doesn’t feel like another country even though it is–it’s like eight minutes from our house” said one teen, another adding “I read somewhere he’s the first Pope to ever take a selfie” in describing her admiration for Francis.

A separate celebration and broadcast of the 5 PM mass takes place inside of of El Paso’s Sun Bowl.
