Ex Priest to Face Texas Murder Charge

An 83-year old Arizona man accused of murdering a Texas beauty queen decades ago has waived his right to extradition.

John Feit is expected in Texas within thirty days following his February 9th arrest in Scottsdale.

Feit’s arrest followed his indictment in the 1960 murder of 25-year old school teacher Irene Garza in Hidaglo County.

Authorities said a then 27-year old Feit killed Garza after hearing her confession at a McAllen church, where he was a priest.

Garza, who was named Miss All South Texas Sweetheart in 1958, was found dead in a canal several days later.
