Progress Continues on San Pedro Creek Project

Construction of the San Pedro Cultural Park is making great progress on time, according to the San Antonio River Authority general manager.

Suzanne Scott said Bexar County commissioners approved the final part of the budget for the first phase of the project this week.

“This is really more about our history and so people that come to San Pedro Creek will be able to understand how the community was founded, how the confluence of cultures has occurred over the 300 years of our history,” Scott said.

The first segment stretches from the San Pedro Creek tunnel inlet near the Christopher Columbus Italian Society to Houston Street. The grand opening will be May 5, 2018, as part of the Tricentennial celebration.

Scott added that people are able to see the work being done on the project themselves by learning about quarterly tours at
