Dem State Rep Arrested in Dallas

By Bill O’Neil

More legal trouble for a high-profile Democrat in the Texas Legislature.

State Representative Victoria Neave was arrested late Tuesday Night in Dallas on a drunk driving charge following a crash.

Neave, who was named the “Freshman of the Year” by the Texas Democratic House Caucus was among the Party’s leaders in the fight against the “Sanctuary Cities” Bill. At one point, she went on a hunger strike to protest the measure.

Neave also played a leading role in passing a bill aimed at tackling the backlog in rape kits across Texas.

Neave’s arrest follows on the heels of a multi-count corruption indictment against San Antonio State Senator Carlos Uresti. Austin State Rep Dawnna Dukes was also indicted on public corruption charges back in January.
