S.A., Darmstadt Sign Friendship Pact

You can find decades of German culture in and around San Antonio. Now, for the first time–the Alamo City has an official relationship with a German City.

“We have lots of German roots and culture here in San Antonio. When I became Mayor, I was actually quite surprised to know we did not have an official relationship with a city in Germany” Mayor Ivy Taylor told KTSA News after signing an official “Friendship Agreement” with Darmstadt Friday Morning.

“I think this is a great economic development opportunity for us” Taylor said, adding “Darmstadt is know as a city of science there in Germany… there’s a lot we can learn from each other.”

Darmstadt’s Lord Mayor also told us he sees a lot of similarities between his hometown and San Antonio.

“Developed scientific organizations… very good developed economic areas. It’s the same in Darmstadt” Lord Mayor Jochen Partsch said.
