S.A. Gas Prices Remain Lowest in State

Gas prices continue to nudge up across the Lone Star State–but you’ll still find the lowest prices in Texas right here in the Alamo City.

New numbers from AAA Texas show the San Antonio average sitting at $1.87.

“That is up five-cents from last week–but it is the cheapest average in the State right now” Doug Shupe with AAA Texas told KTSA News, adding “It’s also 37-cents per gallon less than last year (at this same time).”

All in all, the average price across the State remains comfortably below the $2 per gallon threshold at $1.93.

“That is three-cents more than last week, but still less than last year… 41-cents per gallon less than what we were paying at this time last year” Shupe said.

The highest average price per gallon can be found right now in El Paso.

Shupe said demand continues to rise thanks to those relatively low pump prices.

“All eyes will really be on whether the refiners can keep pace with the expected increase in demand” Shupe said.
