San Antonio FC Gearing Up

A new team, a new owner, a new league, a news season…The San Antonio FC season is just weeks away.

“We’ll be ready, the team will be ready on April 3rd,” Managing Director Tim Holt said. “We’ll be ready to throw a big party on April 9th in our first ever home game.”

Spurs Sports and Entertainment bought the franchise, the former San Antonio Scorpions, and put the new franchise in the United Soccer League, all in just the last few months.

“It was an expedited ramp-up period from maybe what the optimal ramp-up period would be, if there is one, but I think we’ve try use it to our advantage,” he said.

“We’re going to rely on that rabid fanbase, our supporters groups, people that look at going to a professional soccer game at Toyota Field as an active experience, rather than a passive experience,” Holt said. “And sort of creating a great energy, which will help the team on the field.”

First home game is April 9th.
