Sanctuary City “Whistleblower” Bill Filed

Houston Representative Briscoe Cain has filed a bill related to Sanctuary Cities.

His bill would actually give protection to public employees and police officers.

“The intent behind the bill is to encourage police officers and public employees of cities or police departments to feel free to come forward about a policy of their employer regarding Sanctuary Cities and to provide them protection from being terminated or adverse action,” Cain told KTSA News.

Basically, it’s whistle-blower protection.

“So, something like this would allow officers to buck the system and do what’s right for their own protection and safety,” he said.

Governor Abbott is taking aim at Sanctuary Cities this legislative session, as well.
