SAPD Officer Recovering From Gunshot Wounds

A San Antonio Police Officer is recovering from a gunshot wound at University Hospital this morning. He was shot while responding to an assault call at an apartment complex on Ingram Road just after midnight.

When the Officer arrived he was told by the caller that three people with weapons forced their way into an apartment and stole some things that belonged to her.

More police officers showed up and found the three men in a parked car and when they tried to get the men out of the car a fight broke out. That’s when one of the thieves pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Officer Nathan Becerra was hit twice before the other Officers returned fire. The man with the gun was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

The two other men were brought in by Officers and are facing a number of charges.

Becerra, a four year SAPD veteran assigned to West Patrol remains at University Hospital.
